Kristy's Decision

"I met Michelle Erich in 1993, when I placed my baby for adoption. It was a very difficult decision, but one that I knew would be best. I was referred to Michelle by another mother who had placed her child up for adoption.

When meeting with Michelle I knew that she truly cared about people. I could see that was why she was doing adoptions. She was not like the typical attorneys who were out for the money, she truly cared about my feelings and looking out for me. The adoption had some bumpy spots, but she was always there for me when I needed her.

When it came to picking an adoptive couple on my part, Michelle set up meetings with two different sets of possible parents that I had asked to interview. She went with me and helped guide me with the questions I wanted to ask. After the meetings she told me to take my time to make the right decision on my feelings and thoughts.

Then I ended up going into labor early, before I decided on a family, which was very scary. Michelle walked me through it and assured me that if worse came to worse she would make arrangement for my baby to go with her and not to worry that she will find me a perfect family.

2 days before I was to be released from the hospital, Michelle told me she had found a couple for me to meet. They were flying in that day, and she would bring them to the hospital. When they showed up a couple of hours later, Michelle was right. They were the perfect couple for my son! It was a wonderful feeling to know that my son was going to have the best life ever!

Michelle knew what I was looking for because she put her heart into getting to know me! She took the time to become more then just my attorney; she became my friend. She remains my friend! I still call her on the phone and talk to her, I send her pictures of my family, and she keeps in touch with me to see how things are going. I could not have picked a better attorney to help me though this.

Sincerely,
Kristen H."

NOTE FROM MICHELLE:

I has been my joy to work with Kristy, to help and guide her through the adoption process, to see how her life has progressed, and to be counted among her friends! Kristy's adoption plan had a unique and tricky twist when she came to me, but she had faith that we would work everything out. We did. She now has a successful career and well-adjusted life. She recently brought a current family photo to me; they are beautiful and happy bunch!

Maria's Option

"I was 15 when a counselor gave me Michelle's phone number. She told me I could come right over. I had only known I was pregnant for a few weeks, but I was already two weeks late, and my back was hurting. As soon as I met Michelle, she was really nice to me. She talked to me about what adoption meant from the legal part, what I would have to do, and told me I would get to pick the people to keep my baby.

She could tell I was really uncomfortable, so she called the hospital and told me to go over and get checked. I was already in labor, but I hadn't found a family yet. At 4:00 am I asked the nurse to call Michelle. She didn't want to, but I kept telling her to. I was alone and scared. Michelle came in less than an hour. She stayed with me and talked to me and held my hand. When the baby came, a girl, Michelle cut the cord. After the baby was all taken care of in the nursery, Michelle came back and talked to me. I had slept and felt much better. We went over some files of possible parents.

Michelle called the ones I picked. I heard her say, "Congratulations! You have a daughter, and I think she needs a diaper change!" I could even hear the excited screams through the phone!

The family already had a boy and a girl and they all came to the hospital. They brought me flowers, a gift basket, candy, and a card they had all signed thanking me for "Baby Gracie". They named her Grace Joy.

I didn't see Grace again until she was a year old. The adoption was done and the adoptive mom put a photo album, a baby book, together for me. Since then, I have been invited to their house. I was really touched to see my picture on the piano with other family members. I took my fiance to meet Grace, too. When I finally told my own mother about the baby, she went to see her. Grace has a very loving home.

She is really beautiful and really happy. I am happy, too, because my choice for adoption has been good."
